Zara chooses Zimmerman maxi dress for opening day of Royal Ascot

Today, on the first day of Royal Ascot, the races were attended by many members of the Royal Family. Among them was Zara Tindall, an equestrienne herself.

For this occasion, Zara chose a maxi dress from Zimmermann. The floral-patterned dress featured long sleeves, piping at the waistband and balloon sleeves. It is made from linen poplin, making this a great choice for the warmer months.

The piece is exclusive to Matches Fashion, and is available here for £595 here.

Zara opted for a headpiece by a royal-favourite milliner, Juliette Botterill. This blue disc hat consisted of roses on both sides of the disc, which is almost vertical, buntal twists and veiling. It was placed on the right-hand side of Zara’s head and was a great complement to the dress.

You may notice similarities between this piece and one worn by The Duchess of Cambridge; this was also from the milliner.

The heels chosen by Zara were from Valentino. These plexi mix pumps have a pointed toe and covered heel and toe in a fawn ruched leather, and a tapered heel.

The nude clutch is from Olga Berg, a favourite of Zara’s, also drawing out the pink in the dress. This is the ‘Zimbra’ style, which is now sold out, but features a rectangular body that bows outwards on both front and back, to give a geometric shape to the bag. It has an Olga Berg rectangular clasp, and an optional shoulder chain; the bag is made in saffiano vegan leather.

This photo above also gave us a look at Zara’s bracelet. The photos aren’t clear enough for us to narrow it down.

What did you think of this look? We don’t often see maxi-hems at Ascot.
