Duchess of Cambridge in red Catherine Walker for Christmas at Sandringham

The Duchess of Cambridge today made the traditional walk to church at Sandringham for Christmas with her husband Prince William, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and other members of the Royal Family. Catherine was dressed in a gorgeous scarlet coloured coat and matching hat. We think this is the Duchess’ best Christmas outfit to date.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a Catherine Walker coat. The immaculately tailored double-breasted military style coat was accented with deep scarlet rich velvet pointed down collar, cuffs and diagonal welt pockets. The coat is closely fitted through the bodice and then sweeps into a beautiful a-line midi length skirt.

The coat is a bespoke twist on the Great Russian coat style, with velvet collar accents taken from the ‘Scarlet’ style and cuff and pocket accents from the ‘Chelsea’ style shown below. A gorgeous style coat dress. We love this deep jewel colour on Kate, she stood out amongst the crowd looking stunning and classically feminine. Try this a replicate here.

The Duchess already has the same coat in a deep emerald colour that she wore for St Patricks Day in 2017 and then on to the short trip to France.

Kate wore Jane Taylor ‘Halo Band’ headband, retailing for £830. This piece has been a highlight on Jane Taylor’s Instagram feed of recent and we had a feeling the Duchess would choose this piece for Christmas or an upcoming event. The wide style velvet headband sits toward the back crown of the head and is held in place by a delicately twisted black bow that is embellished with a gold snake charm. The Halo Band is created to give a vintage feel from the 1930’s and is a very feminine style – from the front it looks like a pillbox. This design is part of the Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection. This style comes in a range of different colours for you to match with your outfits. We love that Kate tried something different with her headwear this year.

The Duchess accessorised with a diamond oak leaf and pearl acorn brooch. We have seen the Duchess wear this brooch before but the origins of its make are still unknown. The design of Kate’s brooch is very similar to the one below, which is a late victorian pearl and diamond oak leaf brooch, so it may be a piece from the archives.

Of course, the oak leaf is part of the Middleton coat of arms.
