The annual Royal Family lunch took place at Buckingham Palace yesterday, which sees the extended family head for a festive lunch before The Queen heads to Sandringham. We saw The Duchess of Cambridge arriving in red tartan.
Kate chose either a blouse or dress from Emilia Wickstead, in red tartan. The ‘Anni’ dress fits the bill; made from polyester but with sheer silk blouson sleeves, the dress has a loose silhouette that is nipped in at the waist with a signature EW chunky self belt. There is a white, contrasting pointed collar and white cuffs, and the midi skirt features knife pleats. The Duchess’ version, however, has normal slim fitting opaque fabric sleeves. This dress is sold out, but originally RRP’d for £2730.
It has been suggested Catherine had a blouse on, and wore it with her Emilia Wickstead midi tartan skirt from last Christmas, which is an option. Remind yourself of that look here.
This is the ‘Pertulia’ silk blouse from EW, in pink and red. In the same loose fit with contrasting pointed collar and cuffs, the Duchess could have easily had a custom version made to match the skirt. The piece is sold out but originally cost £685.
However, you can’t see buttons on the front of Kate’s piece, leaning me towards the dress as ‘the one’.
On arrival, Kate was wearing her Cassandra Goad ‘Cavolfiore’ pearl cluster earrings, which are actually based on the shape of a cauliflower! They were removed by the time the Cambridge family left together, though. These make a nice alternative.
Upon leaving, we also saw a gold chain on Kate, which looks to be from a bag. The Mulberry small ‘Darley’ bag seen in the summer at a polo event would fit the bill. Costing £595, this bag features a front envelope flap with Mulberry twist lock and engraving, a slip pocket, a zip section and then the main body of the bag with credit card slots; the rear also has a zip pocket and the chain is detachable. The croc version of the bag is sold out but you can get the grain leather version here, here and here. Or try this for a match.
What did you think of this look? We always like a dose of tartan, but would like to see the outfit complete!
