The Countess of Wessex represented The Queen at the Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst today (more on the event here), opting for a gorgeous powder blue palette with black accessories for the day. We saw a new hat, but repeats for the rest of the outfit.
Sophie wore her bespoke Suzannah belted coat, that we think is fabulous. The flattering v-neck – created by the large-notch lapels – moves to a nipped in waist with wide buckled belt, before skimming the ankles. There are decorative seams radiating from the waist up the bust and down towards the hips, and slit pockets sit along the side seams for an elegant silhouette. The coat is made from cashmere.
This is a great match, at £79.
Beneath this was her Erdem paisley vine print dress, also seen previously, including at a St James’s Palace reception earlier this year. The dress features a ruffle neck, pintucks across the front that run the length of the dress, half-sleeves ending with a ruffle, and a kick-flare hem. The print is oof course floral (this is Erdem!) in mainly deep blues and blacks, with pops of white, red, baby pink and green throughout.

The Countess has paired these two pieces together previously, at Christmas in 2018. Remind yourself here.
Sophie opted for a black pillbox hat, from her milliner Jane Taylor. It appears to be a bespoke piece, with the base pillbox shape coming from this hat, with pleated crin detail. We do love a pillbox!
The Countess chose her Heavenly Necklaces faux diamond studs, with an aquamarine pear drop with a frame of smaller clear stones, which we believe to be a jacket. The label believes them to be their ‘Truly Amazing Teardrop detachables’ on a 6.5mm ‘diamond’ stud.
We have seen a similar style from the label on her previously, but these specific earrings are no longer available. A similar detachable pearl version is here or try these for a dark blue match.
We also saw a rose brooch on the coat, a piece we saw a few times at Ascot earlier this year – see here and here. It appears to be a costume piece, with five double petals to the outer, and four inside, all encrusted with clear stones.
Sophie was wearing her LK Bennett ‘Belle’ boots, which feature a platform and almond toe. The pull-on boots are made of stretch suede and are approximately five years old now. They are, of course, long sold out. Try these for a nice match.

A late addition to this post is the bag the Countess carried: one of her Sophie Habsburg pieces, the ‘Pochette’ clutch in black pebble leather, today with the snake hardware. Here, Sophie poses with the King and Queen of Malaysia, who were also at the parade.
And she also wore black leather gloves.
We’re big fans of this look, cosy enough for winter, but bright colours to remind us of spring! What did you think?
