Blue Jason Wu dress for Duchess Meghan at WWI commemorative concert

The Duchess of Sussex along with her husband Prince Harry attended the 100 Days to Peace gala concert last night, marking the centenary of the end of World War one. She wore a blue Jason Wu cocktail dress and a new pair of beautiful sparkly heels.

Meghan chose a knee length Jason Wu cobalt blue frock for the occasion. The sleeveless mid-length dress features a high-folded neckline, stitched in waistline and rear vent. The Duchess’ dress is entirely bespoke and not part of any current Jason Wu collection.

The dress showcased a very unusual wave pattern through the front. This was reminiscent of the Gosia Baczynska dress that Catherine wore in Poland in 2017. The waves were stitched with a lighter blue top stitching through the neck, down each fold and across the waistline to gather in the folds. The waves created an interesting structural element to the dress, elevating it from a plain sheath and added volume and movement. Some social media comments have not liked the way the waves moved and caught in the light, feeling it was too distracting, but we love this look on Meghan and like the extra and fun element of the waves.

The Duchess of Sussex debuted a new pair of Aquazzura ‘Portrait of a Lady’ pumps, which cost £640. These mid-blue pointed toe pumps showcase a gorgeous crystal embellished slingback strap. The first time we have seen Meghan wear a slingback heel and possibly the first time we have seen one of the younger royal ladies in this style of shoe.

The crystal embellishment creates a statement piece for these heels and would be a perfect bridesmaid or gala heel. Perfectly matched for both the Duchess’ dress and her earrings. The fabric of these shoes is actually cotton, though does appear to be satin in some photos. These are one of our favourite pairs of heels Meghan has worn to date. Aquazzura is one of Meghan’s go-to shoe designers, much like LK Bennett was for Catherine when she was first married. You can purchase these pumps here.

Meghan carried her Dior navy clutch that we first saw at the RAF 100th Anniversary celebration at Westminster Abbey earlier in the year. There was much debate at the time that the clutch was actually black satin and not navy satin, with Dior themselves even releasing a statement to say that the clutch was crafted from black satin, but it is quite clear in photos Meghan’s is made from a darker navy satin.

The clutch features a front flap, very short top handle and two internal compartments. Meghan’s clutch is bespoke and does not feature the gold and crystal bee embellishment as shown in the image below. This clutch is currently unavailable.

The Duchess wore her Birks ‘Snowstorm’ earrings, retailing for £9,280. The unusual shape of these earrings are created to be inspired by the Canadian winters and are crafted from 2.15CT diamond earrings in 18KT white gold. This was a gorgeous look from Meghan she oozed glamour and elegance. We love the jewel tones on her, a perfect blue hue.
