Meghan wore a distinct navy and white J Crew coat today, as she visited Birmingham with Prince Harry International Women’s Day.

Meghan – who it is thought was baptised and confirmed on Tuesday night – stepped out in a gorgeous navy coat with thick white contrast trim, the Two-tone wool-Blend Coat by J Crew, costing £330. It was originally available from Net-A-Porter but is now sold out. A beautiful tailored and classic style, the coat is made from a wool-blend and can be cinched in at the waist with a matching fabric belt.
Stylist Tip – you never have to wear the belt that comes with the coat, take it off and you can use a different one that can either match or contrast your coat to create a completely new style. We have seen The Duchess of Cambridge do this a few times, especially with her Reiss coats and crocodile-effect belts.
She wore the ‘Ridley’ Jumper, costing £168, from All Saints. This jumper is chalk white with horizontal ribbing, a relaxed fit with a slouchy funnel neck and fitted sleeves. The jumper is made from a blend of wool and cashmere. I would love to see this jumper paired with a pleated kilt type skirt. All Saints is a brand also worn by Pippa Matthews (the Duchess’ sister) and Princess Eugenie.

The fit of this jumper is actually a perfect example of a styling tip that I learned from a stylist whilst I was studying to become become a Personal Stylist: not to have an overall boxy fit in a jumper or top, but to have some part of it fitted (so either the sleeve fitted and body relaxed or fitted body with more of a relaxed sleeve. Try to show some shape to one part of your body, but you do not need to show off your all parts of your figure at all times – people know what you look like, you don’t have to remind them all the time of your proportions. A great tip that I have put into practice.
The American wore a pair of black cropped trousers by Alexander Wang, but the exact style of her pant is still up for debate. Meghan’s appear to be a very fitted pair of trousers with side and rear centre seams. These trousers look very much like the Alexander McQueen cropped black trousers that Meghan wore in January. It seems quite strange that she would wear such a similar pair by a different designer so soon after the McQueen pants, but some bloggers think they are one and the same. Something with a little different detail, like buttons on the cuffs or v-slits at the cuffs would just add a twist and show the difference between the two pairs. This could be Meghan’s equivalent of Kate’s breton top collection.
Meghan carried the Altuzarra ‘Ghianda’ Saddle Bag in navy; we show the bag in black as navy is not available yet. You can purchase the bag in black for £1,148 from Barneys New York. The flap bag features a braided top handle, detachable/adjustable shoulder strap, gold-toned hardware, logo etched push-lock closure, protective metal feet and is lined with beige canvas with slip pocket and zip pocket on the interior.

Meghan re-wore her Manolo Blahnik ‘BB Suede 105’ pumps in black. Like the Duchess’ pair of Stuart Weitzman ‘Power’ pumps these are a class work staple pump and make any outfit look chic. These heels feature a pointed toe, and a slightly curved heel. You can see them originally available at Bergdorf Goodman’s, but unfortunately are now sold out.
It looks as though Meghan has added a new piece by Birks to her collection. The Rosée du Matin Diamond Horizontal Bar Bracelet roughly £667 available at Birks. This bracelet has a diamond horizontal bar made of 18ct white gold.
Meghan wore her Zofia Day Co ‘Dash’ studs, costing £415 at Zofia Day. Try these similar studs for $16 here, or scroll to the bottom for more options.
Whilst I think that Meghan looked absolutely beautiful today, it seems very odd to me that she would not wear a Woman Designer on International Women’s Day. On International Women’s Day Meagan should have been championing women fashion designers, especially British women’s fashion designers. Perhaps someone like Stella McCartney, Jenny Packham, Emilia Wickstead or even Vivienne Westwood. Do you think the same?
