Sophie in Alice Lee and Penelope Chilvers at DofE Awards garden party

Countess Sophie attended The Duke of Edinburgh Awards with her husband Prince Edward and niece Princess Beatrice back in June; this was an informal garden party, with none of the Royals wearing a hat (although Prince Edward brought along his!). See what Princess Beatrice wore here.

She wore an Alice Lee threaded leather dress which is originally from the Spring/Summer 2014 Collection. This is quite a sculptural piece, made from a light grey knit, the dress has a rounded neckline, three quarter length sleeves, a cinched waistline and slightly flared knee length skirt. The striking feature of this dress is the white leather scalloped accents that appear around the neckline, waistline and in vertical rows down the length of the skirt, almost like pleats. Sophie’s dress is a bespoke piece with added sleeves. We show two pieces from the 2014 Collection to highlight the main portion of the dress (photo 1) and the type of sleeves that Sophie has added (photo 2).

Alice Lee is quite a different choice for the Countess; she has worn this style before to Royal Ascot and at first glance it does appear to be an Alaia dress, a label Sophie has worn on many occasions. Alice Lee has re-released this dress as part of the Spring/Summer 2018 Collection with the length of the dress being just slightly longer than the the originally (see our third photo in the set below)

Sophie wore a Amanda Wakeley navy trench coat. We only saw this view of the coat, and it is a piece the Royal has had for a number of years now, but you can see the double-breasted buttons and the piped edging of the coat more clearly in the other photo below, dating from 2010.
