Whilst she wasn’t a maid of honour to her sister, The Duchess of Cambridge was certainly fulfilling that role at Pippa’s wedding today. Instead of a white dress, Kate was in a dusky rose ensemble from McQueen.
Catherine’s dress was a bespoke piece from Alexander McQueen; it resembles the green McQueen gown she wore to the 2012 BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony. It featured a deep v-neck and pleated with a fitted bodice and slim, but flowing midi skirt, and peplum-style panels to the hips; plus billowing sleeves, cuffed with two buttons. The fabric was silk.
There was another new pair of earrings, again by Kiki McDonough. Pink morganite drop earrings were certainly a statement with the outfit: a square-cut stone placed at a 45 degree angle, with an oval stone beneath, all surrounded by diamonds.
Kate’s hat was also new, from Jane Taylor; a look at the back and her updo, again with a hair net. With a central silk rose and curled vertically across the hat, it sits on a crin base, around which sweeps a ribbed fabric brim of sorts.
For footwear, it was Kate’s current go-to shoe: Gianvito Rossi ‘105’ pointed heel in praline to tie those dusky pink hues together.
We have to take a look at the bride; Pippa’s gown came from Giles Deacon. It had a high neck, cap sleeves, a heart cutout on the back, and was made from lace. The lace was hand-appliqued to give the illusion that the dress has no seams.
Milliner Stephen Jones created the veil: fine tulle with a dégradé of embroidered pearls. This sat atop the Maidenhair Fern tiara by Robinson Pelham. Pippa chose the earrings worn to her sister’s wedding in 2011, also by the jeweller.
And finally, Carole Middleton was also in a blush pink – a coat dress by Catherine Walker. It also looks like she might have been wearing Gianvito Rossi ‘praline’ coloured heels.
The bridesmaids also wore accents of dusky rose, showing a tie-in to the colour scheme for the Middleton women, despite Kate not returning the favour to Pippa.
