The Duchess of Sussex opted for an all-green ensemble at Prince Louis’ christening yesterday, which took place in the Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace. Meghan’s hat was Stephen Jones while the rest of the look came from Ralph Lauren.
The dress Meghan chose appears to be a bespoke piece, based on a few dresses from Ralph Lauren’s Resort 2019 collection, including this knitted jersey dress, which features shirring to the waist and three-quarter length sleeves, a concealed zip to the rear, and a knee-length fitted skirt. It is available here. Meghan’s dress is obviously not made of jersey, but what looks to be a crepe fabric; it does however have a slit neckline, a slightly longer hemline, and a belt in olive leather. The waistline seam also sits high, making the piece look – on first glance – to be a skirt and blouse combo.
The Duchess opted for a Stephen Jones saucer-style hat, which features a shallow base bedecked with windowpane check bring, coming up on the wearer’s left side. Quite simple, the only trim is a matching olive crin bow flat on the top. Meghan wore her hair in a low ponytail.
Once more, it was the Cartier ‘Galanterie de Cartier’ stud earrings, which Meghan wore on her wedding day as well as to engagements beforehand.
The Duchess of Sussex went for some pointed toe heels in a matching tone, which we think are from LK Bennett, the ‘Fern’ heel; note the toe cap detail on the sole. These are a much cheaper brand of shoe than we’re used to seeing on Meghan, and cost £195. They feature a 10cm heel and pointed toe, of course entirely made from leather. Get them here, here and here.
The gloves and bag that were carried have been a little trickier to find, as pictures have been so limited. Perhaps Meghan has been introduce to The Queen’s glove maker and royal warrant holder, Cornelia James. I do find it a little odd the Duchess was even carrying these though, as the event was in July, also in the middle of a mini-heatwave in the UK (I was in London that day and I can tell you it was SO uncomfortable).
The clutch is in matching olive suede in an envelope style, with a gold hardware strap tucked inside, and either black or green piping around the edges. We think it might be Dior, similar to these styles below.
The colour was a great choice for Meghan on this occasion – something different but also subtle and contrasting to Kate’s cream ensemble.
