Countess of Wessex at Kew Gardens in floral print Emilia Wickstead

Today Sophie attended the Spouses’ Programme at Kew Gardens. She planted a tree and took a tour of the gardens and greenhouses.

The Countess of Wessex wore Emilia Wickstead and J Crew for her visit to Kew Gardens for the CHOGM spouses event (royal family)

Sophie wore a Emilia Wickstead ‘Dolora’ draped floral dress retailing for £905. The Dolora dress has a round neckline, is sleeveless and has some unique detailing with pleating at the shoulders and the rear has a v-shaped cut out with flattering draping. A pattern of green and blue floral bouquets upon a white background adorn the fabric. The dress features a side zip closure, double button closure at back of the neck, a seamed waist to cinch in the bodice and flares out into a full skirted a-line silhouette to create a feminine and floaty dress. The dress is made from a blend of polyester and elastane and is fully lined. The style and length of this dress is very typical of what the Countess wears.

The Countess wore a pair of J Crew canvas espadrille wedges, which retailed for roughly £91. These wedges have a white acanvas upper, with espadrille sides and rubber sole. The heel height measures 9.5cm. We show them below in beige.

These wedges remind us very much of The Duchess of Cambridge’s Monsoon Fleur Espadrille Wedges. We know lots of people are not very fond of wedges or feel they are informal, but we love wedges. They are a great alternative to heels for a casual event, are comfortable and stable for walking around outdoors. They can make a very feminine addition to your outfit – though you need to try to buy good quality wedges.

Sophie carried her Sophie Habsburg Design snake-effect envelope clutch in a beige colour-way. She has carried this piece on numerous engagements, and it seems it has become a favourite of hers. We show a very similar design from Sophie Habsburg, a pochette from the Fall/Winter 2017/18 Collection, though Sophie’s does not have the gold snake embellishment.
