The Duchess of Sussex joined her husband Prince Harry at Malborough House for the celebration of the Commonwealth Youth Leadership Training. The Duchess showed us what a sleek minimalistic ensemble and clean tailoring can do as she mixed up her look in a bright yellow Brandon Maxwell dress.
The Duchess wore Brandon Maxwell ‘Midi Sheath Dress’ retailing for £1,392. The sleeveless fitted sheath dress features a bateau neckline, back vent and invisible rear zip closure. The vent in the back is to help with ease of movement, though the slit seems a little high to us and Meghan would probably want to put in a few stitches just in case. The dress falls to a tea-length, which is just below mid-calf. The dress is made from a blend of viscose/acetate.
On the runway the dress was shown belted, though we like it worn either way. We would love to see this styled with a coat and an amazing wide brim Jane Taylor hat at another, more formal occasion. The Duchess’ dress was available at numerous retailers, however, due to the popularity of this look, sold out within minutes. The dress was part of the Spring/Summer 2018 Collection and available for pre-order from M’Oda ‘Operandi, see it here. You can still purchase the same dress though in a pink jacquard colour-way here. It seems that Meghan has taken a few quick notes from The Queen about how to dress so the crowd will notice you. The Queen always wears bright colours on her outings so she is easily seen, and wore a similar shade of yellow to the first day of Royal Ascot this year, when The Duchess of Sussex made her first appearance. After a rather a neutral colour-palette from Meghan for all of her official royal engagements so far, it is very refreshing to see the Duchess in such a bright and cheery colour. We absolutely adore this look on her, a fabulous frock!
Meghan’s Brandon Maxwell dress is also available in green jacquard, pink jacquard and bright pink.
Meghan wore her Adina Reyter ‘3 Diamond Amigos Curve Posts’, retailing for £376.90. These earrings are understated yet beautiful. Three pointed diamonds are set on a thin gold arched branch post stud. The earrings are crafted from 14k yellow gold with 0.15 Ct diamonds and the curve measures 9mm. You can actually purchase these earrings, in a full set, or just the left or just the right. We all know that Meghan is a hug fan of wearing a different earring in each ear, so this is an interesting option. You can purchase the earrings here and here. Meghan wore her Manolo Blahnik BB Pumps in beige suede, retailing for £503. These pointed toe pumps are made from a suede outer and leather interior, with a stiletto heel of 105mm high. They quite a towering pair of heels, but most of the Duchess’ footwear has been on the tall side, and Meghan is clearly a heel aficionado, like her sister-in-law The Duchess of Cambridge. We love this very paired back and simple look from Meghan. She looked sophisticated, elegant and beautiful without all the fuss of of many layers of clothing and cumbersome accessories. One of her best looks to date.
