The Duchess of Cambridge had an unannounced date in connection with the takeover of the patronage of the Royal Photographic Society yesterday. As we know, Kate is an avid photographer, and she looked like she had a great time, debuting a new maxi dress.
For this occasion, Catherine chose a new summer Ridley London dress inspired by the ‘Virginia Midi’ model. The dress retails for £449 and is ‘playful and chic’, as the brand describes it. The silk chiffon midi dress features a v-neck and fitted bodice, and short floaty sleeves. The waist has a self-tie belt, and moved to a flattering a-line skirt with a ruffle before the hem.

The fabric of the dress came from Liberty of London fabrics, which was noticed in a House of Bruar shirt. This is the ‘peach flourish’ print, with tones of peach, teal, yellow, purple and pink. You can purchase this shirt for £49.95 here.
The Duchess wore her Castaner wedges, the ‘Carina’ style, which made their debut last month at the Chelsea Flower Show. The tan suede espadrille wedges, which tie around the ankle, are quite a casual move for Kate to an official engagement.
The look was complemented by Catherine Zoraida gold fern leaf hoop earrings. Made from 18kt gold, these simple hoops feature a fern leaf on the bottom half of the hoop. You can still buy these, costing £150, here.
Catherine, unusually, did not carry a bag.
