We saw The Queen attending church with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today, as she holidays in Balmoral. William and Kate shared a car with the Monarch to Crathie Kirk, while Prince Charles and Camilla arrived separately, as did The Earl and Countess of Wessex (take a look at Sophie’s straw hat in the background), and Princess Anne and Sir Tim.
Kate chose a new coat for the occasion, from Guinea London. It is the ‘Trench Coat – Navy Herringbone Velvet Cuff’, which costs £525. We can’t be sure if the Duchess hasn’t had hers altered from these photos, as she so often does, but the original is a maxi coat with a military feel; the front panel is bordered by gold buttons, and a wide set collar. There are two slit pockets to the hip. The coat is made of navy herringbone (100% wool), with deep navy velvet trims to the cuffs and back, also with gold buttons. The lining on the original is fuchsia.
The coat is now sold out but you can still view it here.
Kate paired the coat with – what looks like – a Lock & Co hat we have seen previously, which is a deep navy. The small saucer hat has a tall brim, wider at the back, decorated with leaves off-centre, with a bow of these petal-like shapes at the centre.
And the last time we saw it, in 2016.

The Duchess of Cambridge teamed the look with her Asprey oak leaf hoop earrings. These small hoops are made of gold oak leaves, set with diamonds. They cost £5,130 and are part of Asprey’s Woodland Collection. These are no longer available, but various similar pieces, such as a pave ring or bangle, are still for sale – get them here.
We almost missed this, but it looks like Catherine wore her Michael Michael Kors peacock print dress we saw first in Blackpool earlier this year – you can just see the bright teal fabric on the right-side of her neck, and the skirt in another image here.
