Sophie, The Countess of Wessex joined her husband, Prince Edward, to begin a royal visit to Ireland earlier this week. The Countess hosted a lunch for women leaders and met with the President of Ireland and his wife. The Earl and Countess of Wessex even got to met one of President’s beloved Bernese Mountain dogs that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met on their trip to Dublin earlier in the year.
Sophie wore her Emilia Wickstead teal dress. This is a bespoke piece is a combination of several Wickstead designs to create this look for Sophie. She has worn this dress on previous occasions. The design of the dress dates back to the Fall/Winter 2013 Collection. Sophie’s dress combines the long sleeves and colour of the teal dress in the first image below with the silhouette and pattern construction of the second and third dress. Sophie’s dress features the pleated fold down the middle to the gathered waistline. The skirt then falls flat to the hip, before intricate pleat detailed panels are showcased on either side of the skirt to a tea length.
Emilia Wickstead is without a doubt the Countess’ most favoured designer, with Sophie opting for her pieces on a majority of her royal engagements. She always looks stunning in the designers pieces. Try this dress for a nice affordable get the look. Purchase here.
Here is a closer look at the dress, as seen on The Countess of Wessex in 2014.
Sophie chose Gianvito Rossi ‘Bari’ 85 patent-leather court shoes for the occasion in a dark nude. These glossy patent leather heels have a sharp pointed toe, low cut vamp and 3.5 inch heel height. A classic style and colour of shoe from Sophie. Unfortunately these heels are sold out, though you can still view them here. Buy a very similar Gianvito Rossi style here or try a nice affordable replicate here.
Sophie carried her Sophie Habsburg ‘Gilda Nappa’ handbag in the beige and blue colour way. The handbag retails for £401. The bag is made from soft cowhide, has two internal compartment with an open top snap closure. A flap pocket features on the front of the bag with prominent white top stitching. The handle is a mix of a leather and chain shoulder strap. The handbag is also available in a variety of other colour ways. It is not very often that we see Sophie carry larger handbags with shoulder straps, instead she normally opts for smaller box clutch styles. You can purchase the bag here.
Sophie accessorised with her ‘S’ Pendant necklace and a pair of gold stud with what appears to be a green amethyst tear drop gem earrings. Both pieces have been worn by Sophie on previous occasions, but are yet to be identified. You can see a closer view of the jewellery here. Get a nice replicate of Sophie’s earrings here.
