The Duchess of Cambridge returned to her royal duties today after a few months of maternity leave. Kate visited Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden at Paddington Recreation Ground, where she met with students from St Stephen’s school who are engaged with the outdoors. Catherine mixed some old and new pieces for today’s looks.

The Duchess debuted a new jacket from a label she has not worn before – Fjallraven. Fjallraven is a Swedish brand that specialises in outdoor equipment and clothing. The brand was established in the 1960’s and originally sold rucksacks. Kate wore the ‘Stina’ g1000 utility jacket in green, retailing for £154. The fixed hooded jacket is made to be water resistant and windproof. It features a centre zip and two vertical hand zip pockets with the zip pulls finishing with tan leather detailing. The jacket has a yoke and panel sides for a more fitted look. The bottom of the jacket has an adjustable drawstring and the long sleeves end with snap button cuffs. A small tan leather fox adorns one sleeve, which is the logo of the label.
This is quite a different look of outwear for Kate. She normally opts for Barbour heavy waxed jackets with multiple pockets and a waisted drawstring or belted feature in a longer length. You can purchase the jacket here. Try this to get the look.

Kate also wore a Fjallraven sweater. The ‘Ovik’ re-wool sweater in frost green, retailing for £142. The crew neck jumper is constructed from recycled wool while the smooth knit is made of two-tone twisted yarn giving a mottled look. Ribbing details feature around the neckline, sleeve cuffs and hem. The jumper is also available in ‘Alpine Purple’ and ‘Dark Garnet’ colour-ways. Perhaps these Fjallraven pieces were purchased to be worn on the royal tour of Sweden last year and either did not get worn or we didn’t see them being worn. You can purchase the jumper here. The Duchess opted for a Joseph ‘Rainer Bud Print’ blouse, which costs £395. This 100% silk white button down shirt features a small seasonal dark green flower bud print, and has a pointed collar with button shoulder epaulettes details, chest flap button pockets, long sleeves with working cuffed buttons and a curved hem. For what seems to be a simple print blouse there are a multitude of construction details going. A very pretty yet workable utility shirt from Kate. Unfortunately we only got to see a peak of the collar poking out over the top of Kate’s jumper in the photos. You can purchase this blouse here, here and here.

Kate re-wore her Zara mid-rise biker jeans in khaki-marl colour-way, that originally retailed for £30. These super skinny jeans have a diagonal zip feature on the right-hand side sitting across the hip. The thighs of the jeans are made up of several panels that lead to the knee ‘moto’ or ‘biker’ detail. We first saw these jeans on the tour of India in 2016. These jeans have long since sold out, though you can still view the jeans here.

Elements of this look remind us of Catherine’s outfit in India, when she went on ‘safari’ in Kaziranga National Park.
Kate wore her Penelope Chilvers ‘Long Tassel’ boots in conker, retailing for £475. The rich chocolate brown leather is vegetable-dyed in Spain. The leather is carefully handcrafted and cut to fit close to the ankle. Long tassel details adorn the zip pulls, with scallop and buckle details at the top. Thick black rubber tread of the sole is crafted from Goodyear Welted Commando rubber perfect for traction. The Long Tassel boot height is 43cm and a shorter Standard Tassel boot is available in 39cm.
These classic style boots have lasted the test of time, with Kate wearing them on multiple occasions over the years. We have never been big fans of these boots, but they have grown on us and The Duchess always looks very stylish and country-ready in them. You can purchase these boots here. The Duchess accessorised with her Monica Vinader ‘Siren’ green onyx earrings in 18ct gold-plated wire, which were first seen on the Canada tour of 2016. The design of these earrings are inspired by the wavy lines of the sea which are seen in the irregular shaped and multi-faceted onyx stone. The gems sit in 18ct gold-plated sterling silver. These earrings retail for £135. You can purchase these earrings here, here and here.
