The Countess of Wessex opted for bold stripes during a day of engagements in the South West on Thursday.
Sophie wore a cream maxi coat from S Max Mara. The ‘Custodi’ coat features double breasted buttons to the front, a large lapel, piped seam detailing, including at the cuffs, and two slit pockets at the waist. Sophie’s is in ‘sand white’ but the piece is also available in navy, black and tan. Get one here, for £825. This is another versatile piece for the Countess’ wardrobe, however she owns a number of similar cream coats and this falls slightly to low on her – for a truly great look it should have been taken up slightly to fit her smaller frame.

The Countess also wore an oxblood jumper, which appears to have bows, or ties at the cuffs. She wore this piece with her Emilia Wickstead snakeskin print skirt to an event with the NSPCC this week (click left photo to enlarge). A great look at the Countess’ jumper and skirt combo can be found here, as unfortunately there have been very few pictures.

The striped skirt came from Gabriela Hearst. The funky piece features horizontal stripes to the knee in three shades of pink, which moves into a zig-zag pattern to the hem, which sweeps the calves. It is made from wool and cashmere and retails for £850. Some sizes are still available here.
Sophie opted for a pair of brown suede ankle boots featuring a thick heel and small platform. They remind us of her new Prada ankle boots seen in Paris, and we know the Countess favours Prada, making this a likely ID, but they are definitely an older style.

The Countess of Wessex carried another Sophie Habsburg clutch, which we saw a few days ago. This custom piece has two-tone panels and is in a simple envelope shape. The flap is in suede and the base, leather. This close-up image is taken from Sophie Habsburg’s Instagram page. We like this bag, adding an easy pop of colour to an outfit, and in this case, tying the purple of the jumper and pink of the skit together nicely.
It is not available to buy.
Sophie wore her J and L initial necklace, of course the letters marking her children’s names, James and Louise, and a new bracelet. We think it is this ‘Maya Torque Ivory & Gold Bangle’ by Halcyon Days.

Her earrings were a wonderful cluster of coloured stones and pearls, set at an angle to make an oversized earring. We’ll let you know when we find out more. The second photo is the Countess wearing these earrings to another day of engagements in Cumbria.
