The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today hosted a Christmas Party in the grounds of Kensington Palace for families of military personnel deployed in Cyprus. The Duchess looked very festive in a tartan skirt – and good news, we have managed to find you Kate’s top and skirt for only £30!

The Duchess wore Brora ‘Cashmere Cropped Cardigan’, retailing for £209. This finely knitted cropped cardigan is carefully crafted from 100% Scottish cashmere. The cardigan showcases a rounded ribbed neck line, three-quarter length ribbed cuff sleeves and a row of multiple mirror effect buttons down the centre. We are not sure about the silhouette of this top with the skirt. The cropped length and three quarter sleeves seem to detract from the dramatic sweeping skirt. We would style this skirt with a black tailored shirt or flowing necktie blouse.

The Duchess wore an Emilia Wickstead ‘Tartan Pleated Skirt’. We immediately recognised this skirt after having seen it looking for a piece from The Countess of Wessex (we’re still on the hunt!). We thought this would be the perfect skirt for Sophie for Christmas at Sandringham.
The high waisted midi length skirt has a bright red, black and white tartan pattern and dropped box pleats around the skirt for a very traditional style. It appears that Kate has removed the wide waist cinching belt with oversized buckle from the skirt, which is a shame. We feel the belt adds just that extra little detail and we would love to see Kate wear the skirt with the belt at another stage. The skirt is made from a spandex/elastane/polyester blend. We love this longer length on Kate, so chic. Unfortunately, the skirt is sold out.

The skirt was part of Emilia Wickstead’s Fall 2018 Collection. The red tartan material in this skirt was also used in a dress, jacket and trousers. All part of the same collection.

Catherine wore her Mappin and Webb ‘Empress’ earrings, retailing for £3,750. These delicate earrings are made from 18kt white gold and inlaid with 0.88ct of diamonds. The circular disc shape has an intricate cutout pattern. We have seen Kate wear these earrings on numerous occasions, and are popular amongst royal fashion watchers.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a new pair of black suede knee-high boots today; they have a pointed toe and stiletto heel with a side zip. They are slightly loose around the calf. These boots appear to have a 4 inch or 100mm heel with a black sole, that looks slightly worn – are these just boots we haven’t seen, or are they maybe borrowed from Pippa, or mum Carole? We believe they may be Stuart Weitzman or Dune, but as of yet they are unidentified. Try these boots to get Kate’s look for less, purchase here.

Kate’s ensemble is very reminiscent of an outfit she wore not long before she announced her engagement to Prince William. This is just the very royal version of that. So in a sense Kate is staying true to her own style, which is great to see. We absolutely adore this look on the Duchess, simple yet elegant and polished. We hope to see this skirt many more times in the years to come. An amazing look today.
