Princess Eugenie at Royal Ascot

For the first day of Royal Ascot, Princess Eugenie chose a dark patterned dress and unusual wide-brimmed saucer hat.

Eugenie’s dress was a simple fit and flare shape in black, with a white daisy print; quite cute! The outer layer was chiffon-like and it appeared to have a slip or lining to it. She wore a studded leather belt to nip it in at the waist.

I haven’t found the brand yet.

Her clutch was a bespoke Ethan K ‘Cinderella’ bag. The crocodile patent leather bag is bespoke for the Princess (according to the designer) and features an envelope flap and black a ‘tiger eye semi-precious stone’ forming the hedgehog on the front. Bags from his line cost upwards of £4,000.

The shoes were an almond toe chunky heel in black; they have been touted as Reiss’ ‘Ellen’ but the toe on that shoe is a sharp point. A chunky heel makes them great for the grass at Ascot.

I’d suggest they are similar to LK Bennett’s ‘Marcella’ court, which (if I remember correctly) were available in black suede, too.

I now think they are Gianvito Rossi, costing £425.

Quite a statement piece, Eugenie’s hat was a wide-brimmed saucer-type hat, with a shallow crown. The crown had a white band to the side and a bright pink centre, adding a dash of colour to her outfit. I don’t mind this piece, but think it looks like it could fall off any second because of the shallowness…

No one has been able to identify this piece yet either! So its a sad day for fashion.
