The Duchess of Cambridge attended an unannounced engagement to UCL Developmental Neuroscience Lab yesterday. Kate recycled some of her wardrobe classic pieces, including a burgundy skirt suit that we first saw way back in 2012.

Catherine wore her Paule Ka jacket and matching skirt in a deep burgundy or merlot colour-way. The wool jacket features a deep v-neckline with shawl lapel collar. The jacket is fitted in at the waist with a single set of double breasted buttons, small rounded patch pockets on the hips and a welt breast pocket. The hem of the jacket kicks out into a peplum flare with short rear vent. Try this blazer, to get the look for less. Purchase here.

The Duchess teamed it with a Paule Ka wool skirt. This flared and flirty a-line skirt features several tiers and finishes a few inches above the knee. The ensemble comes from the French designer’s Winter 2011 Collection and was look 64. Whether Kate’s piece is bespoke or not it is unclear as we have only ever seen product photos of the skirt suit in beige and grey.

Kate wore her Ralph Lauren ‘Zoe Long Sleeve Turtleneck.’ The fine knit black jumper has a roll neck and is made from a silk/nylon/cotton/elastane blend. This piece has been part of Kate’s wardrobe for a long time and is no longer available to purchase. You can still view the details of this piece here. Try this to get the look for less here.

Kate wore her Tod’s black suede block heel pumps, which we haven’t seen in a while. The pumps have an almond shaped toe that sits upon Tods’ signature pebbled rubber sole to help aid with traction. We have never really been fans of these heels, but upon discovering them in store, they do actually appear much nicer in real life. A great stable heel for women who would love to wear heels to work but do not want to teeter around on thin stilettos. Try this as a great replikate here.

Kate carried her Mulberry Bayswater clutch. This is one of the Duchess’ staple bags and we have also seen this since 2011. A simple rectangular black suede clutch with front flap and gold turn lock engraved with branded logo. The new range of Mulberry bags and clutches now feature a door knob turn lock.

It was a repeat of the Asprey London ‘Oak Leaf Small Hoop Earrings’, retailing for £5,000. A very delicate and finely crafted pair of earrings. The 18kt yellow gold oak leaves are intertwined to form half hooped earrings. Each is inlaid with sparkling pave diamonds with a total of 1.34ct. We first saw these earrings worn to Wimbledon earlier in the year. You can purchase these earrings here.
Kate mixed up her hair style with this look and even though we have seen her with a ponytail before, she added a black velvet bow from J Crew to finish the look. The bow retails for £22 and you can purchase it here. This isn’t the first time we have seen Kate do this, but last time it was for an black tie event, the Nelson Mandela film premiere in 2013, though it was worn loose.
You can just the see the end of the bow trailing down into the Duchess’ hair below.
She finished her look with her trusty Cartier Ballon Blue stainless steel wristwatch.
