Catherine opens V&A wing

People have said Kate channelled Jackie O today, wearing a Gucci tweed dress with red and navy trim to open a new wing at the V&A.

The ‘black faux pearl-embellished tweed dress’ featured a crew neckline, half sleeves, pocket detailing to the chest and hips, all complete with red and navy grossgrain trim and pearl buttons. It came from Gucci, costing £1790.

Here is a closer look at the material.

Kate chose a pair of older shoes, only worn a couple of times, her LK Bennett ‘Art’ navy leather chunky heeled courts. They were seen in 2011, and are quite an office-style shoe for me, so I was surprised to see them again, but the darker navy works better than the Duchess’ other navy shoe options (that we know of).

Completing the look was a red suede clutch, perhaps a custom version of Emmy’s ‘Natasha’ bag; the original has a gold trim to the front, which this piece does not, but the shape bears a strong resemblance. Kate owns a number of pairs of shoes by the label, too.

Kate wore her hair in a half-up style (I am most definitely a fan of this) with curls to the bottom half, and her Annoushka pearl earrings.
