The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a Coach Core event in Basildon today. Kate met with and played tennis with some of the children. She was looking very sleek and casually tailored in a Smythe jacket.

The Duchess choose Canadian designer Smythe’s ‘2 Button’ Blazer, retailing for £475. The dark buttons on the coat are quite vintage in style and reminiscent of button style on your grandfather’s cardigan, but are in fact leather. The blazer is created in a Prince of Wales check fabric, comprised of wool, linen and nylon. It features two oversized flap slant pockets, with a third above on the left hip, a centre vent to the rear, and the neck section of the lapel in black velvet for an unusual twist.
We have seen the Duchess wear Smythe ever since she was spotted wearing the label’s “Duchess one button Blazer’ (aptly named after her) way back in 2011 on her first Royal Tour of Canada. You can purchase the blazer here or here.

To keep her warm in the cooler weather, the Duchess wore a black turtle neck jumper, which, unfortunately we have no info on. She teamed her look with a pair of super skinny high rise jeans in deep black; again, these are currently too generic for us to find. We do know, however, Catherine favours J Brand when it comes to jeans, as well as Zara, so these are our likely guesses.

Catherine chose her Russell and Bromley ‘Fallon Dry Chelsea boots’, retailing for £295, for the day. These ankle boots feature a chunky cuban or ‘gaucho’ heel, an almond toe, stretch panels complete with a decorative zip to the outside in a pewter coloured metal. The actual zip is on the inside of the foot. Coming from Aquatalia, the fabric of the boot is weather resistant, meaning you can go out in the rain and even snow in these! A truly versatile boot. You can purchase these boots here.
Kate accessorised with a pair of Kiki McDonough earrings; she wore what we thought were her ‘Kiki Classic Morganite and Diamond Cushion Drop Earrings’ featuring a pale pink morganite stone, but on closer inspection, the stone is clear. These are white topaz stones with 18kt white gold tapered hoops, which sell for £1,400 – get a pair here.

We don’t think the Duchess carried a bag with her today, due to the active and more casual nature of the event. What did you think? We loved this timeless blazer.
