The Countess of Wessex has flown to New York to meet with many inspiring and important women representatives to the UN. The Countess herself gave a stirring speech about sexual violence and crimes against women. she spoke of the people she has met over the years whom she is inspired to help and the ability to use her position now and into the future to fight for these women and their rights.
"We have a responsibility to ensure that women have every opportunity to reach the highest levels of their profession and lead across political, economic and social spheres."

Whilst it might seem trivial to most to discuss the fashion that Sophie wore for such a special occasion the whole point of her visit was to not only fight for women’s rights, but highlight women in positions of power and those women out there fighting for other women everyday and how important they are in our workplaces.
We know that Sophie inspires so many women with her work ethic, poise, grace and elegant style. She gives inspiration to many women of what to wear for work, whether this be working at the UN, an office job or at home. All women want to look their best and this is what we hope to highlight here. If you would like some more in-depth information about Sophie’s work at the UN please visit our sister site The Crown Cronichles to read about Sophie’s speech here.
In a very smart move, Sophie rewore all parts of her outfit. This allows the focus to be on her work and not new clothes. Margaret Tatcher was known for her attention to detail of the tailoring of her clothing so that no one would pay unnecessary attention to the clothes, but to what she was saying.
Sophie wore her Loewe ‘V-Neck Collarless coat’ retailing for £1,300. The cocoon style coat boasts an oversize feel with drop shoulders, wide long sleeves, diagonal hip pockets, hidden closure front and falls to a midi length. This coat is incredibly versatile and can go with every outfit to give you a chic yet slightly relaxed look. You can purchase the coat on sale here.
Sophie wore her Oscar de la Renta ‘Bloom Print Silk Midi Dress’, retailing for £3,624. Sophie debuted this dress only a couple of weeks ago, though we did not get a good look at it as she wore a coat over the top. This time we got to see how truly stunning this dress is and how well suited the silhouette is for Sophie. She rarely gets her outfits wrong and knows the styles, shapes, silhouettes and designers that allow her to shine.
This absolutely beautiful black dress features a delicate pattern of white flowers and green foliage. The dress a round neckline, slightly peaked shoulders, long sleeves to a button cuff, matching fabric cinched waist belt with buckle, an a-line flared fluid skirt and rear zip closure. You can purchase the dress here.
The Countess wore her Heavenly Necklaces ‘Back to Front’ pearl earrings. These are the older style and no longer available. Try these to copy the look.
Sophie also accessorised with her long oversized teardrop pearl pendant necklace. The designer of the necklace is still a mystery. We first saw Sophie wear this necklace to the Chelsea Flower Show with her Zimmerman dress last year.
Sophie carried a Sophie Habsburg black croc effect fold over clutch with her notes.
