For a visit to the Rugby Portobello Trust today, The Duchess of Cambridge brought back a favourite maternity coat, in a purple boucle fabric.
Last seen on her trip to New York in 2014, Kate re-wore her Seraphine coat in a purple sparkly boucle, with black trim. The coat is made of wool, has an empire line and ‘frayed trim & black velvet ribbon detailing’. It was originally a one-off piece created custom for the Duchess, but is now available on the brand’s site for £275, and is called the ‘Marina’ coat, part of their luxury range.
I was a big fan of the item the first time around; it has been a shame to have not seen the coat for three years, since almost all of Seraphine’s clothing can be worn both during pregnancy and afterwards (or before if you really like their stuff!). They recommend ‘ordering one size down to give a more tailored look’, if you’re not pregnant.
She didn’t take the coat off, so we’re unsure what lay beneath, however we did get a glimpse of a black skirt (perhaps a dress). The fabric looked jersey-like, or perhaps satin.
For accessories, the Duchess chose her black Mulberry ‘Bayswater’ clutch (seen at an engagement back in October) and her Tod’s black pointed-toe chunky heels again, a favourite at the moment. The retailed for £335.
Jewellery-wise, we saw a pair of Asprey earrings, which match a necklace Kate owns. The button style earrings feature diamonds with a single amethyst to the centre, and are made of 18ct white gold. They form part of Asprey’s ‘167 collection’, and are stamped around the side with ‘Bond Street’, the company’s flagship store. They are still available for £3100.
Steal Kates style with these replikates!
