Sophie, Countess of Wessex held a joint engagement with The Duchess of Cambridge to launch the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange at Buckingham Palace yesterday.
The evening reception saw many from the fashion set attend, including US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, British Vogue’s Edward Enninful, Supermodel Naomi Campbell, Designers Stella McCartney, Karen Walker, Tukua Tuna amongst others.
The Countess wore a dress by Burberry, the ‘Benni Contrast Topstitch Midi Dress’. It features short sleeves, with a v-neckline, cinched waist band, a cropped midi length and a central split at the bottom rear for ease of movement. The black dress has striking double red contrast stitching around the neckline, sleeves, down the front and several lines of stitching round the waist band. It is constructed from 95% viscose, 5% elastane and polyester lining with rear zip fastening.
The dress is available to purchase from Harrods for £850.
A very flattering and feminine dress, this was quite a bold choice for Sophie and a departure from her usual Emilia Wickstead pieces. This dress complemented her figure beautifully – a great choice of dress for the Countess.
Sophie wore soft pale pink velvet court heels; these were Gianvito Rossi’s ‘business pointed-toed velvet pumps’. Whilst these heels are gorgeous a shoe, perhaps one that matches more closely to the contrast stitching on the Benni Dress could have really turned this outfit into a ‘wow’ fashion moment.
They appear to be sold out but are available in other colours like burgundy here.
For accessories, the Royal with a striking pair of vintage looking 80’s inspired diamond shaped earrings that helped to highlight her beautiful features and French roll hairstyle. They come from Lucia Odescalchi, and are a version of gold drusy squared earrings from the label.
