Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, attended the opening night of 42nd Street musical, and chose a retro-style red dress from Marchesa Notte for the occasion.
The Duchess’ new frock was the embellished tulle midi dress from the line’s 2017 resort collection and is described as ‘claret’. It retailed at £1,105. The site’s style is ever so slightly different to the version Catherine wears, namely a raw hemline.
With a voluminous flared midi-skirt coming from the embellished waistband (ooh sparkles!), the dress had a fitted bodice, boned, in fact, with a sweetheart neckline and capped sleeves, created from the lace. This lace features rosettes on a lattice background, and the embellishment was made from sequins and beads.
She paired it with her red Gianvito Rossi 105 heels in a deep red or ‘Bordeaux’, and her Mulberry ‘Bayswater’ clutch in conker.
There were a new pair of earrings for the night, something I wouldn’t have necessarily thought of the Duchess picking, but we have seen her choosing more daring items in recent months. These fabric bead chandelier earrings are from Kate Spade, comprising pompoms with tassels.
The premiere took place at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and the Duchess was in the West End to help an appeal for East Anglian Children’s Hospice. Read more about the evening here.
